Friends of Barnish

Friends of Barnish started in 2006 when a group of parents decided to help the school raise money for extra purchases which are not available through the NEELB. Our initial project was to provide playground equipment for the pupils but on calculating the immense cost and planning involved we decided to concentrate on more simple and affordable goals!!

We also do it because it's fun, enjoyable and very rewarding, and in turn helps pupils:

  • receive a richer education as a result of items bought by the Friends of Barnish.
  • benefit from parents' increased understanding of the school.
  • socialise by taking part in fundraising events and activities.
  • understand the importance of giving.

The projects in which we have successfully achieved are -

  •  A data projector and screen, Disco equipment, Christmas "supplies" for kids parties, monetary allowances towards bus trips to Redcastle and pantomimes, summer seats and flower tubs.
  • Donation to pupils to buy games for playground equipment
  • A small portable cooker and trolley to use with the children in areas of curriculum such as healthy eating, maths and learning about the world around us.
  • A school library corner is another project we were able help fund.
  • School sign.
  • School web site.

Membership is open to every parent, carer of a child in the school, staff and individuals with a close link to the school past or present. All help and support however small will be very welcome.

Friends of Barnish run numerous fundraising events throughout the school year, these include

  • School Discos
